Description
Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) is a high-performing organisation rated ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for caring by the Care Quality Commission and are proud to be England’s largest provider of 0 to 19 services. As an integrated provider of acute, community, and public health services, we serve a diverse population of over 600,000 across Yorkshire, the North East, and beyond, working across three Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). At the heart of HDFT are our 5,500 colleagues, whose wellbeing and development we prioritise to deliver exceptional care.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, Jonathan Coulter, we are seeking an exceptional Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery, and Allied Health Professions (NMAHPs) to join us as a voting member of the Board. This pivotal role will provide clinical leadership for nursing, midwifery, and AHPs while driving the delivery of our strategic goals, including the best quality, safest care, person-centred integrated care, and innovation.
As an Executive Director of the Board, you will play a key role in ensuring quality of care remains central to every decision. With responsibility for clinical governance, regulatory standards, Safeguarding, Infection Prevention and Control, and Maternity, you will inspire confidence with your expertise and ensure that quality is at the heart of Board discussions. A visible leader and role model for our KITE values—Kindness, Integrity, Teamwork, and Equality—you will champion inclusivity, patient safety, and quality improvement, ensuring our actions align with HDFT’s mission and strategy. As a member of the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT), you will contribute to a shared vision of delivering an efficient, sustainable healthcare system across the region, leveraging innovation and best practices to improve outcomes for patients.
We are looking for a qualified and experienced senior nursing or midwifery leader with a proven track record of operating at or near Board level and providing leadership across diverse services. You will be a visible and inspiring communicator with a strong focus on service user and patient engagement, continuous improvement, and learning to support our vision. Your ability to demonstrate our values, empower staff, and collaborate with stakeholders and partner organisations across three Integrated Care Systems will be critical in transforming health and care services to deliver outstanding healthcare for all.
We are committed to attracting candidates who bring diverse perspectives and welcome expressions of interest from the broadest range of backgrounds, especially those under-represented at Board level in the NHS.
